Q: Who is American Express Global Business Travel (GBT)?
A: American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) is an international corporate travel management company (TMC) that provides leading travel solutions, integrated consulting services, proprietary research, and end-to-end meetings and events capabilities. These innovative offerings enable clients to optimize the return on their travel and meetings investments. GBT has operations and network partners in nearly 140 countries worldwide with approximately 16,000 employees.
SMT has been American Express GBT's partner and representative in Finland for dozens of years. They acquired us from Finnair in autumn 2016. The new name is a natural phase of our integration process.
Q: How will my services in Finland change?
A: Our services will remain the same or their offering will be even better. We continue to serve you in Finland. Your service teams and contact people are still here.
Q: Will the contact information remain the same?
A: Yes, they will. Our telephone numbers remain the same. Our email addresses have had the format @amexgbt.com for almost a year now. There are no changes in our contact information.
Q: What about Travel Portal and online bookings?
A: The web address of our site and Travel Portal will change from Oct 29 on. The new address will be www.amexglobalbusinesstravel.fi. The old smt.fi address will be automatically directed to our new address. All current services, including online self-booking, will remain in the Travel Portal.
Q: What will become of our current contract and pricing?
A: We will continue our operations as usual with our new name. Our business ID remains the same, as well as all exiting contracts.
Q: Will your invoicing information change?
A: Our legal name from Oct 29 will be GBT Finland Oy. This name will appear from that day on in our invoices and legal documents as well as in the Trade Register. Our business ID and invoicing address remain the same.
Q: What will happen to Meetings & Events?
A: American Express GBT has a strong representation in M&E services. Our experienced M&E team will be called American Express Meeting and Events, and they will continue to help our Finnish customers with group travel and event services.
Q: Are we now automatically a American Express GBT customer? Can we use their offices all over the world?
A: American Express GBT is a travel management company independent of American Express’ card service. Your current service contracts remain the same. If you have a local contract, your current contact information, services and conditions remain the same. If you have operations globally, we welcome an opportunity to provide you with global travel services; please contact your Client Manager to discuss.
Q: American Express GBT? Are we now automatically an American Express customer?
A: No. American Express GBT is an independent travel management company, governed by its own Board of Directors. The company is a joint venture between American Express and an investor group.
Q: We have a factory in Sweden. Are they now GBT customers?
A: We have local contracts in Finland and Sweden. Their coverage, contact information and conditions remain the same. If you have operations globally, we welcome an opportunity to provide you with global travel services; please contact your Client Manager to discuss.
Q: What will become of your local customers?
A: Actually, they get more advantages. American Express GBT has invested in local markets and services that are an important part of its global development.
